Between Wanderlust and Toddler Sleep

The facts:
1) We love to travel.
2) Pack and plays are a pain in the butt to drag around and take up too much room in the car.
3) Sam's kind of stuffed into them like a sausage these days anyway. Seriously, how fast is time going?!?
4) Sam is the rolly polly-est sleeper and absolutely not yet able to keep his sleepy little body ON a hide-a-bed all night.
5) Since Sam's second night home after he was born and I woke up with my pillow on his face and  decided against EVER being a co-sleeping family, we can't keep him safe between us. He doesn't sleep well in a room with us anyway and this boy LOVES his sleep.
6) Sam goes to bed at about 7:30-8. We don't go to bed until 10:30-11.
7) I like Sam to be WAY rested when there's a lot of travel excitement and stimulus coming at him during the day. He is happier, mommy is happier, restaurant staff, attraction staff, other travelers, etc. are all happier, we all have a better time! I mean come on, look how cute and happy my little well rested monkey is during a trip to Branson last month.

Happy Traveler

8) I don't like to sit quietly in the dark for a couple hours. I do like to hang out with Jeff, drink some wine, laugh at some funny pics on the humor page of Pinterest or lolpics, and enjoy our grown-up time together on vacation.
9) We almost always get a suite of some kind to make all of this work.
10) Sam needs a safe, comfortable "Sam's bay-yed" (his pronunciation, not mine) place to sleep.
11) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our Regalo portable toddler cot!!!!!!
12) You need this. Seriously.
13)It folds up into a teensy half of an adult camp chair size. Put it right on the floorboard in front of the car seat and it doesn't even take up storage/carrier space. It only weighs 4 pounds. Unfolded, it'll support up to 75 lbs, and 48 inches (see below, right). So clearly, that's not Sam in that picture but I wanted to give you an idea of scale. Because of it's frame, it's slightly higher on the sides and almost impossible to roll out of. If he does roll out of it, it's barely more than a half foot off of the ground. AND, they retail for less than $25.

Added bonuses:
1) They're great for camping, picnics, the park, the lake, or the beach to keep kiddos up off the ground and out of the dirt or sand.
2) The sturdy, canvas cover is super durable and wipes clean with soapy water.
3) There's still enough room for various stuffed animals, lovies, snugglies, cuddlies, whatever your kiddo takes to bed for security.
4) Your little gets his/her own bed. We make a big deal about it and Sam gets really excited! As Sam says "Mommy/Daddy doesn't fit. Sam's".

  1. That is a really neat little contraption! I'm glad you found something other than a big clunky pack-n-play.
